Things I Love Thursday- Kashi August 22, 2007

kashi.jpg My good friend over at Big Binder sent me some info about a great promotion that Kashi is doing right now to rid the world of unhealthy snacks by sending you free healthy snacks. In the last year, we here in the Diaper Diaries household have been trying so hard to work towards this goal also. That is why our house is currently full of all things Kashi.

The hubby first alerted me to Kashi when he became obsessed with eating Kashi Go Lean Crunch. In the spirit of truly honest blogging, I will tell you, I think the stuff tastes like twigs, but he loves it and better yet, somehow my ridiculously picky eater, Lily, loves it too. She constantly wants it as a snack.

Anyway, once that obsession started we started looking for more things Kashi. Enter, Kashi oatmeal. Do you know most instant oatmeal has basically been stripped of all the stuff that makes it healthy. Instead it is just loaded up with sugar. Might as well eat a bowl of Lucky Charms (a guilty pleasure of mine). Then we discovered Heart to Heart oatmeals. I love all the flavors and they are packed with all sorts of stuff, including the biggie in our household-fiber. I also have recently picked up their Go-Lean oatmeal which is packed with even more fiber and flax-seed. Lily can’t get enough of this stuff despite previously declaring that oatmeal was “yucky.”

I could go on and on about their breakfast products, but let me just say they have lots of super yummy cereals and some great waffles. FYI- frozen waffles suffer from the same problem as most instant oatmeals. Even the “whole grain” variety are usually stripped of all nutrients and fiber, but not so with Kashi!! Personally, right now I am all about their granola mixed with yogurt for breakfast or lunch. They also have really yummy frozen meals.

This brings me to my greatest Kashi love affair. Their snack crackers. I realize I sound like a broken record, but snack crackers and chips have little to no nutritional value. When I snack, I am normally a salty, crunchy type snacker (unless I have a certain unwelcome visitor in which I want nothing but chocolate). These crackers are super yummy and satisfy that chip craving. I truly love every flavor, but their cheese and ranch ones are my personal fave. I think they just came out with a line of party crackers that I haven’t yet tried, but they look good too.

Now that you are all good and hungry, may I just tell you that their websiteis amazing. They have so many different tips and challenges to help you live a healthy lifestyle through eating, exercise, green living and general good, clean living. I am really inspired and challenged by it. I will definitely be stopping back to educate myself even more on how to live my best life. I encourage you to do the same.

  1. I totally love the Kashi Go Lean Crunch too. My girls especially love the Ranch Kashi crackers as their snack of choice. I love their Ranch dressing breath! I am off to the Thrifty Acres as we speak and I will buy the oatmeal and waffles and I’ll get back to you. Thanks for the suggestions!!

I’m glad you liked it! It took me a few tries, but I am now able to stand Kashi Go Lean Crunch. The regular Kashi Go Lean – still not so much.

I’m with you on the Kashi stuff- it is good. I haven’t tried the oatmeal- you know where I’ll be tomorrow :). I do like the Go Lean Crunch though. I can only eat it every other day or I get some unwelcome- high fiber caused side effects.

Kashi is very yummy. I love their cookies as well since I am a sweets girl.

Ok, confession time… I have a small box of Go Lean Crunch right here in my desk drawer, but I have been too afraid to try it. It’s right next to the box of Fiber One that I dipped into exactly one time – it also tastes (and looks) like twigs.

Someday I’ll work up the nerve to try it… right after I polish off the rest of those Lucky Charms.

You got my attention with the pizza. I had no idea they had pizza. You KNOW I love pizza. I will definitely have to check it out.
