The Diaper Diaries

but hopefully not full of crap

The Return Of TV May 2, 2008

So it seems that everything is back!! Well except Pushing Daisies, man I miss that show. But I have discovered that as much as I complained about the lack of good TV, my DVR and I are a bit overwhelmed. I don’t even know what to do on Thursday nights. Of course this is massively compounded by the fact that it is hockey playoffs. Which means there is a game on practically every stinkin’ night. Fortunately, this also means this ridiculously long season is almost over. Don’t tell my husband I said that.

Still I have for the first time ever abandoned Dancing With the Stars part way in. I could not be more bored with these people. I can’t take much more of David Archuletta. Forgive me 13 year old girls everywhere. Survivor has voted off most of the people I like. 30 Rock and Scrubs are airing season finales last week. Thankfully Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy have gotten good again, but Ugly Betty seems to have majorly jumped the shark.

It is possible that I should be spending my time reading my large stack of magazines or books next to my bed. Or conversing with my hubby. Or enjoying the beautiful weather, with the exception of tonight cause apparently we have tornado warnings. Or cleaning my house. Good golly, TV is taking up way too much time. Then again, when there was nothing on, I wasn’t doing any of those things. What in God’s name was I doing?

So the net out is I find myself oddly waiting for life to go back to “nothing on TV” mode. Maybe I will tackle one of the above. Or just lay in my hammock until bedtime every night. Sadly it is a fact that I still get a wireless signal out in my yard so you won’t be without these stellar posts during the summer months. Whew. Actually I lied a little bit before, I can’t wait for So You Think You Can Dance? Man I love that show. What are you looking forward to doing with your extra hours of daylight this summer?

It’s so weird to me that, with TV back, we are already facing finales. BIZARRE! I love scrubs and am thrilled, (with it ending this next week) that there will be another season…
We aren’t big tv watchers around here (But I too miss PD!!!!) but I am grateful there is only a few weeks left of TV!

I am trying to give my 2-y-o daughter as much time outside with Momma as possible before baby brother is born in June. I’m NOT an outdoor person, but she loves the outdoors more than anything. SO, I’m working hard to make this time special for her before brother comes. Once he’s here, I’m sure we’ll be spending far less time out in the hot sunshine. That makes me sad for her…not so much for me. 🙂

OMG I read your post and it’s like you jumped in my head… add the week we were gone on vacation and I cannot get caught up with my DVR. I have 19 Oprahs (can you believe that). This summer I am looking forward to playing outside and getting away from the TV. My favorite shows are now New Amsterdam (which ended last week) and How I Met Your Mother.

I’m looking forward to hanging out in the backyard and letting the kids play in the sprinklers. I love this time of year.

i’m so excited that i actually knew what ‘jumped the shark’ meant. (how lame is this?) my mom just explained this to me recently. WOW AM I SOUNDING LIKE I’M 12 OR WHAT?!?!

I hear ya on the TV thing. I still watch Am. Idol, but last week, I did it with a book in my hand, just to watch the performances and mute the rest. I’ve been reading a lot more novels, and I have to say that they’re much more interesting than anything [but pushing daisy’s and 30 rock] on TV.

I also am looking forward to SYTYCD – though it always falls at such a bad time of the year – just when I want to be outside and take evening walks. I usually catch about 1/2 of the season.

I so understand what you saying. I am a TV aholic. Not so much on the reality but most of the fictional shows I get hooked so easily. I am looking forward to the season finales as well so that I can be at least a little more productive!!

  10. Sometimes I really do wish that TV would just go away so I could be a little more productive. Then I get hooked into a show all over again.
